On July 15, 2026, upon the exchange of Letters of Intent, the collaboration between The Yonsei Institute for North Korean Studies (YINKS) from Yonsei University and The Polish Institute of International Affairs has been officially established. The cooperative relationship particularly regards the “Polish Diplomatic Documents” series, and archival research project led by YINKS titled “Constructing a Global Digital Archive of North Korean Diplomatic Materials”.

The primary goal of the YINKS research project is to develop a comprehensive understanding of North Korea’s diplomatic relations. By building a global archival database, the project intends to facilitate effective research on North Korean diplomacy.

Both YINKS and PISM intend to cooperate in the field of modern diplomatic history. The scope of cooperation includes exchange of experiences and information sharing, especially regarding archives and archival resources of mutual interest, as well as exploration and pursuit of opportunities for joint publications, academic seminars, and workshops on inter-Korean relations, North Korean foreign policy, and regional security issues.

On July 15, 2026, PISM hosted a delegation from YINKS: Professor Jong-Yun Bae, Director of the Institute, and three experts from the Institute's Database Team: Dr. Yeonu Son, Dr. Kyunga Ryu, and Dr. Yeongung Cho.
