The EU, in cooperation with its allies, imposed the unprecedented sanctions in response to Russia aggression on Ukraine. The overarching goal was to limit Russian ability to finance the war. While the EU keeps united on maintaining the restrictions, Russian authorities develop new ways to circumvent them. They also launch disinformation campaigns in the EU to undermine its effectiveness. The seminar aims to discuss the real effects of sanctions on Russian economy, in particular on energy and defence sectors and the solutions to close any loopholes in their enforcement.
