A renowned German publishing house, Springer VS, has just released Strategic Cultures in Europe. Security and Defence Policies Across the Continent edited by H. Biehl, B. Giegerich and A. Jonas. The book is a pioneering survey of strategic cultures of European states. Marcin Terlikowski, PISM analyst, contributed to the study with a chapter on Polish strategic culture. Presenting sources and main elements constituting Europeans’ approach to security issues, the use of force in international relations and the role of armed forces in the society, the book allows to compare various aspects of European states’ strategic cultures. At the same time it is a voice in the debate on the evolution of the common European strategic culture.
