PISM has earned the accolade of top global think tank among those with an annual operating budget of less than 5 million USD. It was also awarded 3rd place among Central and Eastern European think tanks, after Carnegie Moscow Center and CASE Foundation.

Moreover, PISM is the 7th in the world among the best government-affiliated think tanks. A PISM collaborative report, “Towards a European Global Strategy: Securing European Influence in a Changing World” is ranked 3rd in the “Best Policy Study/Report Produced by a Think Tank (2013-2014)” category. 

The ranking is published annually by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at the University of Pennsylvania. Select institutions are nominated by over 1,950 analytical and research institutions, which assess 6,500 think tanks from all over the world.
