Andres Kasekamp is a professor of Baltic Politics at the Institute of Government and Politics, University of Tartu, Estonia. He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and obtained his Ph.D. in modern history from the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, London University, in 1996. He is currently vice-president of the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies, having served earlier as the editor of the Journal of Baltic Studies (2002-2005), Chairman of the Board of the Open Estonia Foundation (2006-2008), and Director of the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute (2000-2013). He has appeared as an expert in the foreign affairs committees of the European Parliament and the Estonian and Finnish parliaments as well as the Baltic Assembly. A History of the Baltic States is his second book, which won the author the prestigious Baltic Assembly Prize in Science.
